Saturday we took a side trip out of London to see Stonehenge. The trip almost didn't happen - long story - so I was REALLY excited once we finally got on the road. We took a train from London to Salisbury, and then a short bus tour over to the actual Stonehenge site.
Our first glimpse of Stonehenge from the road.
Clearly, it gets a little crowded in the summer!
The stones up close... or as close as you can get.
A burial mound
Proof we were there
A storm was building up, and I thought this was a really neat and eerie shot.
If you want to see more of our Stonehenge pictures, let me know! I think we took a zillion, but I thought you guys would just be thinking "great... more rocks... that look the same!"
A view of the Salisbury plain from our tour bus. We were on the right side of the bus, so you can see the cars heading towards us driving on their left.
This is Gilbert of Salisbury.
The Salisbury Cathedral. The spire is off by 27 degrees. Guess who figured that out? That's right, Christopher Wren.
Another view of the cathedral from practically underneath it.
